Abstract

Coronary artery disease is considered as the largest killer in the world, which created lot of enthusiasm and maximum research was done on this field in last 100 years. History of coronary artery disease and myocardial infarction (MI) started way back in 1772 when William Heberdan described the angina pectoris. This chapter discusses stethoscope era, era of electrocardiography, concept of coronary care units, pharmacotherapy era, and reperfusion era. Primary angioplasty era, the platelet inhibitors, and stenting era are described.
