Abstract

Coronary artery disease occurs because of development of atherosclerotic plaques in the coronary arteries, which in turn are attributed to risk factors, such as tobacco smoking, lack of exercise, poor eating habits, overweight, and so on, which are largely attributed to modern lifestyle-based on consumption of refined foods and minimization of physical activity on part of human beings. This chapter reviews the evolution of understanding of coronary artery disease and acute coronary syndrome.
