In early times the practice of neuronursing intended towards doctors assistance. In today’s scenario nurse plays an important role in assessing neurological patients and family. Anatomy and physiology of nervous system has been described briefly. This book highlights the role of nursing care and management in patients with neurological conditions. Various procedures involved in neurological examination and the nurse’s role is discussed. Clinical features, pathophysiology, signs and symptoms, diagnostic procedure of various conditions like infections of nervous system, cerebrovascular accidents, epilepsy, congenital abnormalities, vascular diseases, tumors, neuromuscular disorders, cranial nerve disorders, peripheral neuropathy, wilson’s disease, myopathies and headache are described. Also stress has been made in describing the role of nursing management in rehabilitation of the patient with neurological and neurosurgical condition and also of patient with ventilator. Common drugs used in treating various neurological conditions are explained and nurse’s role in preventing these conditions has been discussed.
