IUI: Intrauterine Insemination

The prevalence of infertility has continued to rise over the last few decades and it is estimated that it affects at least 11% of couples of reproductive age. Intrauterine insemination (IUI) is a trivial therapeutic modality in infertility. The book “intrauterine insemination” provides widely approved concepts and the presentation has been maintained in a uniform manner. This book also provides the nutshell of how, when, why, and therefore of IUI and helps to maneuver the procedure successfully. This book divided into seven sections and comprises thirty-four chapters. The first section gives a detailed description on the general aspects of intrauterine insemination. The chapters discussed are intrauterine insemination—an overview, physiology of ovulation with special reference to controlled ovarian hyperstimulation, role of laparoscopy before intrauterine insemination, etc. The second section andrology briefly discusses on topics such as semen analysis according to WHO criteria, semen collection, semen preparation for intrauterine insemination, IUI in male subfertility: how it affects outcome of IUI, and semen freezing and use in intrauterine insemination. The subsequent sections provide a deep knowledge on ovulation, special situations, procedures, results, and IUI—inception and future.
