The First edition of “Practical Biochemistry” serves as a comprehensive guide to students for practical examination. The contents of this book have been structured in the practical examination-oriented manner. The book is divided into five sections and 27 chapters. The major sections are qualitative experiments, quantitative experiments, charts, spotters and objective structured practical examination questions. Qualitative analysis is presented with many chapters related to reactions of carbohydrates, proteins, lipids, urea and creatinine. Determination of blood sugar, urea, creatinine, cholesterol, uric acid has been described in quantitative analysis. All the tests have been provided with diagrams and interpretations. Throughout the book, there is an emphasis on the core advances in biochemical analysis. Chapters on charts and spotting and OSPE questions are useful for self-training of evaluation methods. Reagent preparations have been explained clearly which helps to improve the level of understanding for students about the reagents they are using for various experiments in the laboratory. Questions provided with the chapters have been useful for having better clarity of the topic.The whole book illustrates the practical aspects of biochemistry analysis. This book is also useful for staffs involved in the laboratory preparation of practical sessions.
