Growth and expansion of nursing knowledge is essential to keep in pace with advanced technologies and techniques in providing client care. Nursing research is a means to improve the health of the people. It is a way to identify new knowledge, improve professional education and practice, and use resources effectively. Systematic use of research process provides a wide basis for nursing practice. Use of research process in nursing and the application of research findings in the clinical setting foster newer means of improving the client care. Nurses in all client care settings must take care to review research and practice the findings in order to fill the gap that exists between education and practice. Being part of the health care system nursing students should update their knowledge on newer trends in nursing. The contents of the textbook are organized systematically in an understandable and applicable manner for the health care professionals.
