Pathophysiology is a study of disordered function or breakdown of homeostasis in diseases. Pathology learning requires the knowledge of various laboratory methods, techniques, and tools involved in pathology study. The book purpose is to provide the essential pathological knowledge from basics to advanced concepts required by the dental students. The book has seven sections describing the concepts from basics to advance concepts. First section of the book covers the cells in health and disease that includes techniques for the study of pathology cell structure, metabolism, cellular ageing, cell injury pathogenesis, amyloidosis, paediatric diseases, nutritional disorders, and common vitamin deficiencies. The second section deals with inflammation and healing, immunity and hypersensitivity, infections and infestations. Fluid and haemodynamic disorders are discussed in section three. Growth disorders and neoplasia are important concepts, which are covered in section five. Disorders of erythroid series, bleeding disorders, disorders of leucocytes and lymphoreticular tissues are briefly studied. Selected topics from systemic pathology such as cardiovascular system, viral hepatitis, cirrhosis, diabetes mellitus, and common diseases of bones, cartilage, and joints are discussed in the last section.
