The objective of this book is to provide a comprehensive overview of ultrasound as it applies to the eye and orbit. The author emphasizes those techniques that have been found to be of greatest value in our own practices and describes and illustrates the most common ophthalmic disorders that one might expect to encounter. This book consists of 18 chapters, which include physics and instrumentation, examination techniques for the eye, vitreoretinal disease, trauma and postsurgical findings, intraocular tumors, inflammatory diseases of the eye, glaucoma, ultrasound biomicroscopy of the eye, three-dimensional ultrasound of the eye, axial eye length measurements, orbital tumors, vascular lesions, color doppler imaging of the eye and orbit, extraocular muscles, optic nerve, and artifacts. The range and specificity of examples also provides a ready reference for the student of ultrasonography and orbital disease. Throughout this book, the reader is able to incorporate the basic knowledge of ultrasound and apply it to a range of lesions in a meaningful manner.
