The book, "SURGICAL TECHNIQUES IN OPHTHALMOLOGY RETINA AND VITREOUS SURGERY", provides useful information of various vitreoretinal diseases and their involved surgical options. Recent advances and innovative techniques such as 23 G and 25 G microincision surgery in various retinal diseases, OCT investigation, wide angle viewing and stem cell therapy are special features of the book. Surgical management of various vitreoretinal diseases and recent advancements in management of vitreoretinal diseases like macular translocation with 360 Degrees retinotomy, microincision vitreous surgery (MIVS), wide angle viewing system, retina lasers, newer and advanced vitrectomy systems and many others are highlighted. Acquired retinal macroaneurysm (ARM) is characterized by spindle-shaped dilations of posterior pole retinal arterioles. It is diagnosed mainly during the 6th and 7th decades of life and is associated with vascular disorders like hypertension and arteriosclerosis. Use of intraocular Bevacizumab (Avastin®) for choroidal neovascularization is indicated here. Optic neuritis can be treated with a combination of corticosteroids and antibiotics while untreated chorioretinitis can result in partial or total loss of vision in the affected eye. Investigations done in posterior segment diseases include fundus fluorescein angiography, fundus photography and optical coherence tomography. Pediatric trauma is managed by reporting mechanism of injury, exact time and place of injury, visual status before the trauma, etc. Photodynamic therapy can be indicated as monotherapy in conditions like CNV secondary to inflammatory chorioretinal diseases, choroidal hemangioma, idiopathic CNV, etc. Management of intraocular foreign bodies and many others are important.
