Common Surgical Emergencies

by SK Kochar

Common surgical emergencies are not a textbook of emergency surgery. It is a clinical treatise of surgical emergencies which are common in all practice formats, whether it is a small hospital or multi specialist hospital. Emphases are on diagnosis and practical management of these emergencies which if not treated promptly or if not treated correctly will result in significant mortality and morbidity. Topics selected are those which have higher incidence of occurrence without any geographical bias Literature has been reviewed but only balance view has been endorsed. Every effort has been taken to keep away from controversies so that young surgeon who invariably deals with these problems is not let confused. All chapters follow the same format and flow as most of the chapters have been written by one authors. Super specialty chapters have been contributed by the masters in the field but there also same flow has been maintained. It is hoped that post graduate students and young surgeons who have to care for emergencies almost without supervision will find this book a source of knowledge and clinical comfort.
