Abstract

Light rays are refracted by various structures of the eye to focus on the retina. Lens can change its refractive power by changing its curvature which is called accommodation. Accommodation also involves change in size of pupils and convergence of eyes. Rods are sensitive to dim light and cones to bright light and colour. Visual perception involves light sense, form sense, sense of contrast and colour sense. Colour blindness is usually congenital but may sometimes be acquired in diseases of macula and optic nerve. Binocular vision comprises of simultaneous macular perception, fusion and stereopsis.
