Abstract

Laser is an acronym for “Light Amplification by Stimulated Emission of Radiations.” The common principle on which all lasers work is the generation of monochromatic, coherent and collimated radiation by a suitable laser medium in an optical resonator. There has been a strong emergence of lasers in the field of dentistry. When used efficaciously and ethically, they are an exceptional modality of treatment for clinical conditions that dentists treat on a daily basis. Commonly used lasers in dentistry are Nd: YAG, Er: YAG, Argon, Gallium-Sa, and He: Ne lasers.
