Abstract

Colorimetry, the most commonly used biochemical technique is quantitation of analytes, is based on measurement of color intensity. Colorimetry is based on Beer-Lambert’s law according to which the absorbance of monochromatic light by a colored solution is directly proportional to the concentration of the substance. In this chapter, principles and procedure of colorimetry are explained. Method of calculation of the concentration of a substance using absorbances of standard and test, and concentration of standard, are also elaborated.
