Abstract

Urea is the end product of protein catabolism formed by urea cycle in liver. Urea is estimated by the diacetyl monoxime method which is replaced by Urease-Glutamate dehydrogenase enzymatic method in modern clinical laboratories. Blood urea level is increased not only in renal diseases but, also in many prerenal and post renal clinical conditions.
