Abstract

This chapter mainly deals with utilization of medium frequency currents the frequency being in-between 1000 to 10,000 Hz. Inter-ferental current is the resultant of two medium frequency currents intersected at mid point producing a beat frequency that produces a low frequency effect. The reason of producing such current is that low frequency current is unable to penetrate human skin for its high impedance. So two medium frequency currents are made to pass through the skin and allowed to intersect each other by which a low frequency effect appears in side the body. Usually medium frequency currents of 4000 Hz and 3800 Hz are used for obtaining the necessary low frequency effect in side the body. Often the beat frequency is made to swing from low level to upper level in order give a surround effect. This mainly used to stimulate the deep lying muscles where low frequency current can not reach.
