Abstract

Estimation of serum iron is one of the prime investigations carried out in cases of Iron Deficiency Anaemia (IDA). Serum iron can be measured by different techniques in the laboratory. Many types of commercially produced kits are available in the market. The procedure described here is Dipyridyl method introduced by Ramsay in 1954. It is a simple and cost effective method best suited for laboratories run on small budgets.
