Abstract

Gestational trophoblastic neoplasia is highly curable. Best results will not be achieved unless these cases are referred promptly to specialized centers where appropriate facilities are available to determine the correct diagnosis, the extent of the disease and where optimal care during chemotherapy is available. Gestational trophoblastic neoplasia (GTN) encompasses a spectrum of clinical and histological entities and comprises a group of neoplastic disorders arising from trophoblastic tissue of the placenta. GTN is a common gynecological problem in Malaysia and other South-East Asian countries. Due to the lack of a Tumor Register in many of these countries, the true incidence is unknown.
