This 15th special volume of the noted international series, Recent Advances in Pediatrics, first launched in 1991 and now concurrently in its 15th annual volume, aims at covering the vital topical issues in pediatric nephrology that have witnessed significant progress in the past decade or so. The 12 state-of-the-art chapters contributed by 14 distinguished pediatric nephrologists drawn from India and United States, attempt to review the current depth and breadth of knowledge in the field bearing in mind the global needs. Each and every chapter is remarkable by its excellence providing a stimulating, mature and informed and, not infrequently, even provocative update. Such an approach is understandably befitting when the goal is not only to inform but also to motivate discussion, interaction, research and innovation. In keeping with the professed policy of the series, multidisciplinary approach with an eye on future continues to occupy pride of place in this volume too. Hopefully, the broad range of information contained in this volume will be useful to physicians at all levels, from the pediatrician in training and those in practice to the experienced pediatric nephrologist looking for answers to complex management problems.
