The chapter explains the qualities of a nurse in detail. Nursing is to assist the individual (sick or well) in the performance of those activities contributing to health, its recovery (or to a peaceful death) that he would perform unaided, if he had the necessary strength, will or the knowledge and to do this in such a way as to help him gain independence as rapidly as possible. Some of the essential qualities a nurse should have are devotion, honesty, loyalty, discipline, sense of responsibility and more. Basic nursing principles are safety, individuality, use of resources and more.
