This book gives clear introduction to otology. It explains the anatomy, general features and common disorder, inflammations and possible treatment option of each part of the ear with representative pictures. This includes inner ear, tympanic membrane, middle ear, external ear, facial nerve and others. Facial system, vestibular systems are also emphasized in detail. Conditions associated with systemic infection with nasal involvement and otologic manifestations are important aspects in otology which are dealt here. Infections pertaining to virus and bacteria are explained in detail. . Other traumatic injuries, benign and malignant tumors and rehabilitation of different parts of ears are clearly explained. Imaging of various parts of ear with computed tomography and magnetic resonance imaging gives clear picture on the anatomy and infected area. Various surgical procedures involved to cure the ailments such as meatoplasty, canaloplasty, exostosis, atticotomy, and mastoidectomy–canal. Apart from these, procedures involved in the surgery of the facial nerve, inner ear and skull base are described. Steps are described diagrammatically where ever required.
